  1. Purchase of an InterCity Travelpass ™ does not assure you a seat until you use it to make a reservation. Without using your pass to make a prior reservation a seat is not guaranteed. Coach sector reservations must be made at least 2 hours prior to travel. During peak travel periods we recommend booking further in advance to avoid disappointment.
  2. A one time booking fee of $2.00 per transaction applies to the initial purchase of the pass.
  3. Interislander Cook Strait crossings, Milford Sound cruises, Waitomo Caves, the awesomeNZ® Cape Reinga day trip and the Fullers GreatSights® Dolphin Cruise are only included in passes where noted. We only hold limited seat allocations on specific sailings/departures and bookings must be made at least 26 hours in advance of the desired travel date. During peak travel periods we recommend booking further ahead in advance to avoid disappointment.
  4. Sector reservations using your pass may be made free of charge by contacting the InterCity® National Contact Centre.
  5. InterCity TravelpassTM is valid for twelve months from the date of activation. Activation occurs when travel is first booked against the pass, not the first date of travel.  
  6. Each pass has a specific set of valid coach services based on the routes and regions included. Alternative routes using other services is not permitted.
  7. Only InterCity Coachlines®, Newmans Coach Lines™ and Northliner Express coach services are included with the exception of sectors where noted that are operated instead by GreatSights® or awesomeNZ®. Private operator services are not included.
  8. Backtracking is not allowed except for the return leg between Milford Sound and Queenstown, Mt Cook or Paihia and Auckland as stated within those pass descriptions.
  9. Travel may not be repeated along any sector.
  10. The Milford Sound route will be operated by awesomeNZ® during peak season. However during our off peak season this service may be operated by GreatSights®.
  11. Backpackers rates apply. Correct, valid and current ID cards are required when you purchase your Travelpass™. YHA, VIP, BBH, ISIC & Nomads cards are widely accepted backpacker identification cards.
  12. InterCity Travelpass ™ is not transferable and cannot be extended.
  13. InterCity TravelPass ™ is non-refundable once travel has commenced.
  14. InterCity® agents may charge a $3.00 booking fee per sector booked using your pass (this does not apply to the initial sale of the pass).
  15. Except where noted, passes are for coach travel only, they do not offer entrance fees to attractions, cruises or separate tours.

  17. No hotel pick ups and drop off available for pass holders
  18. Milford Sound cruises cannot be taken on this pass unless an accompanying coach sector is booked into Milford Sound at the same time.
  19. Freeway loyalty points do not apply to InterCity transport pass products.
  20. Calls to our 0800 number are free when made from a New Zealand landline or New Zealand mobile and may not apply to calls made using international SIM cards. Check with your mobile provider if you are in doubt.
  • InterCity Group products and services are sold subject to the Carriage of Goods Act 1979 and:
    the terms and conditions set out on InterCity's website (www.intercity.co.nz), and any other terms and conditions published by the actual carrier or printed on the ticket; and any special conditions specific to that fare type (InterCity Regional Coach Passes and InterCity Flexi-Pass also carry special conditions in addition to those stated in this section). The total liability of any InterCity Group member (which includes any franchisee) or any of their contractors or agents for any cost, expense, loss or liability suffered or incurred by any passenger or other person, whether as a result of wilful default, negligence or otherwise, is limited to the lesser of: proven direct compensatory damages (which does not include, without limitation, loss of profit, revenue, saving or business or exemplary, indirect or consequential damages); or the amount paid by the relevant passenger for the product or service. If a customer acquires or holds themselves out as acquiring InterCity Group products or services for the purposes of a business the provisions of the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 will not apply.
